How to Choose the Right Size
1. Know your kayak model.
2. Check the manufacturer fit charts (Seals, Immersion Research, etc.).
3. Choose tunnel size:
• Nylon/hybrid tunnels use waist/chest measurements.
• Neoprene tunnels use waist size; go up if between sizes.
When choosing a tunnel size if unsure, go with what size you would normally wear.
When you receive a new spray skirt it’s crucial to test it on you and your kayak at the same time. Put on the spray skirt before sitting in your kayak. This helps you feel comfortable wearing it and, most importantly, taking it off the coaming or cockpit rim.
If your kayak has a sharp edge on the coaming, make sure you can remove the spray skirt.
Hold the grab loop and push forward before bending your elbow.
Which Spray Skirt Is Right for Me?
Half Skirts
Great for recreational kayaks in calm, warm conditions. Covers splash and sun but not intended for rough water.
Nylon Skirts
Lightweight, packable, and ideal for warm-weather touring on lakes and mellow coastal days.
Breathable Nylon / Touring Skirts
Waterproof/breathable decks offer more comfort and better water shedding. Great for most northwest summer sea kayaking.
Hybrid Neo/Nylon Skirts
Neoprene deck with a nylon or breathable tunnel. Offers a more secure deck seal while staying comfortable and easy to put on/off. Perfect for year-round paddling in various conditions.
Full Neoprene Skirts
A full neoprene skirt will provide the best watertight seal and insulation for warmth. Best for whitewater, surf, rough sea kayaking, and roll practice. Very dry and secure.
