Northwest Outdoor Center offers group kayak and paddleboard rentals for groups of 9–40 people on Lake Union. Group reservations ensure availability, streamlined check-in, and dedicated staff support for your event.
Group Reservation Requirements
Group size: 9–40 people
Advance booking:

Groups of 9–19 people: at least 24 hours in advance

Groups of 20+ people: at least 7 days in advance
Payment:

Groups of 10 or more must be paid with one credit card (no individual payments)
Planning required:

Before contacting us, please know how many single kayaks, double kayaks, triple kayaks, and/or paddleboards you want to rent

We cannot hold or confirm a group reservation without this information
Tip: The more advance notice you give us, the more flexibility we have with availability and scheduling.
Group Size Categories & Scheduling Rules
Groups of 7 watercraft or 12 or more people
Minimum 2-hour rental period. We charge our standard rates. A $20 per item deposit secures your kayaks and paddle boards and is applied to the rental balance. Deposit refundable 72 hours ahead of rental time, or if NWOC cancels due to unsafe conditions including but not limited to:

Groups of 15 or more people
Minimum 2-hour rental period. You are charged for what you reserve and require a deposit based on group size with the balance due after the rental. Rental charges begin at the start time of your reservation.
Deposit refundable 72 hours ahead of rental time, or if NWOC cancels due to unsafe conditions on the lake including but not limited to:

Weekday Group Rentals (Monday-Friday):
All rentals must start at 5pm or earlier. Limited same-day adjustments may be possible (e.g., switching a single kayak to a double)
Weekend and Holiday Group Rentals:
10am reservations only with a maximum 3 hour rental period. All rentals must be returned before 1pm. Day-of equipment changes are typically not possible
Group Discounts

Groups of 15-25 receive a 10% discount off our standard rates.

Groups of 26-40 receive a 15% discount off our standard rates.

Deposits
Groups of 13-20: $250
Groups of 21-30: $500
Groups of 31-40: $750
Group Rental Rates

Groups of 25 or more are subject to an additional $50 gratuity
