About Us

NWOC was founded by five paddling entrepreneurs in October of 1980. Our goal was simple: to provide safe, high quality boating instruction for people in the NW. Years later, the concept has expanded but the goal remains the same. NWOC is best known for its classes, rentals, and sales. We also have about 100 kayaks/paddle boards available for use right from our docks, on Lake Union. Our classes are for the beginner and those looking to improve their skills, or just need a refresher, from Rescue classes to Whitewater. 

We started selling gear because of customer demand for quality kayaking accessories. While we have more items in our store, this covers many of the items that kayakers can't do without. Whether you visit us online or in our store, we would love to help you.

Our manufacturers stand behind their products. If one should break while in use, we will replace it unless it has obviously been misused/abused.
